The majority of our software has to be purchased by a U of A Corporate Credit Card or with an Indent. In other words, the funds must come from a faculty or department of the University of Alberta. Please take a look at the Method of Payment section on our software pages. If the particular software you are interested in indicates all methods, you can use cash, cheque, debit, VISA or MasterCard, as well as a U of A Corporate Credit Card or an Indent. We try very hard to accommodate everyone, however our software licensing is very specific and therefore some purchase methods are just not viable for some products.
If software is being purchased with an Indent, the whole transaction can occur through campus mail, but you are also welcome to come in and see us at our office in 302 GSB. If you choose the campus mail option, please send us a signed indent with a valid speedcode and a list of the products you wish to purchase. Don't forget there is a 1.65% service charge on all Indents. If you do require the media, we will send it back through campus mail, along with your receipt. Please click on the following link for an Indent Form.
In order to use the above mentioned purchase method, you must come into see us at Product Sales. We do require that you come in person in order to process credit card purchases. In many cases, we will also require your original signature on site license agreements.
Please note that when purchasing Microsoft Office Work at Home licenses, you must bring in your OneCard so that we can confirm you are an employee of the U of A.
It has come to our attention that some clients are purchasing software with University indents/credit cards, after which they are reimbursing their departments and taking the software home for personal use.
This practice contravenes the University's computing Campus Computing Conditions of Use, which stipulates that licensed software is for University-related purposes only. Such practices make it difficult for us to maintain relationships of trust with software vendors, who provide us with discounts under the umbrella of strict academic usage.
Please cooperate with AICT in this matter.
